The RAD Class Award is a less formal type of assessment.  Students present a selection of the exercises and one dance, supported by the teacher.  This type of assessment gives a broad indication of the student’s standard, rather than the detailed breakdown that is given in the formal exam.  

The Examination is the formal option; students present the full syllabus led by the Examiner. This type of assessment gives a full breakdown of their grading.   They receive a medal, certificate and report completed by the Examiner. 

Students in Grade 1 and above must be attending two classes per week to qualify for entry to the Exam; Miss Rachael & the Teachers then decide who is suited to doing the exam.

During Term 1 Miss Rachael and the Teachers determine each student’s suitability for entry to the Examination or Class Award.

R.A.D. Ballet Exams and Class Awards will be held in Term 3 at our Brighton Studios. They could be held any day of the week and will be held during school hours.

The Exams and Class Awards range in cost from approx $75 through to $400 for advanced levels depending on the grade and the number of students. This includes the R.A.D. Examiner, rehearsal fee and all associated costs.

All students sitting the Exam or Class Award are required to have the correct uniform (stated on the TDLD website). They must also have their hair in a gelled bun. 

There is an extra practice at the Exam studio on a Sunday in Term 3 – this is compulsory for all students entering the Exam. There is also a school holiday course for students from Grade 1 and up.  There is no extra rehearsal for Class Award students.
