Georgia McGeechan

Georgia began her dance training at a young age at Canberra Youth Ballet School. There she received technical dance training in a wide variety of styles including RAD classical ballet, as well as tap, jazz, modern, contemporary and more.

As a teenager, Georgia performed with Canberra’s QL2 youth dance ensemble, Quantum Leap, confirming her love of contemporary dance while helping her to develop skills as a young dance artist.

In 2012, Georgia moved to Melbourne to study a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) at the Victorian College of the Arts. There she performed in works by Gerard Van Dyck, Nat Cursio, Becky Hilton, and Stephanie Lake. Upon graduating, Georgia worked in Melbourne as a performer, teacher and choreographer before deciding to further develop her teaching.

In 2018 Georgia completed a Masters of Teaching (Primary and Secondary) at Deakin University. Here she studied the VCE dance curriculum in depth, discovering in more detail its relationship to her own training and interests. Georgia continues to seek out opportunities to further her teaching skills, recently this included working closely with VCE dance chief assessor Cheryl Kaloger Brown and her students.

Georgia looks forward to sharing her extensive dance knowledge and background with VCE dance students.
