EXAMINATIONS, ASSESSMENTS & PRESENTATION CLASSES

Tap, Jazzfunk, Contemporary, Tinytots Fairy Magic Ballet and Bopping Tots students are able to sit for an Assessment. R.A.D. Ballet students are able to sit for an Examinations or Presentation Class. All Assessment, Presentation Class or Examination students receive a report, certificate and medal.
Examinations, Assessments or Presentation Classes are by no means compulsory. Students wishing to sit for the external R.A.D. Ballet Examinations must attend a minimum of two ballet classes per week from Grade 1 and above to qualify. The Principal, in conjunction with the Teachers, then determines each student’s suitability for entry to the Examination or Presentation Class. For further information on the R.A.D. CONCERT

We have 2 Concerts – one for the preschool students, and one for the rest of the school. The Preschool Concert is held at a suburban theatre in November, and the main school Concert is held at The Palms @ Crown in September. These concerts provide the students with performance experience as well as a chance to celebrate their achievements. All students are offered the opportunity to participate. The Concert is not compulsory. All costumes are made by a professional costume manufacturer, and are purchased by students. Parents are not required to do any sewing. In 2012 the main school Concert will be on Saturday 15th September at The Palms at Crown, and the preschool Concert will be on a Sunday in November at a suburban theatre.

COMPETITIONS

After many requests, we have decided to offer TDLD students the opportunity to participate in dance Competitions/Eisteddfods; either solos or duos. Some things you need to know about Competitions are -­‐
• Students wishing to participate in the competitions will need to have 20 minute private lessons every week (during the term) to learn and rehearse their competition solo or duo.
• Students must be at least 8 years of age, and will need to discuss with Miss Rachael their suitability for participating in competitions
• Competitions are generally held during the April, July and September school holidays.
• Entries for competitions are completed early in 2012.
• Students will need to purchase their own costume for their solo or duo, and pay the nominal entry fee (direct to the Competition organisers).

LOS ANGELES – DANCE EXCELLENCE FESTIVAL

Theatre De La DanSe represented Victoria and Australia at the international Dance Excellence Festival in 2009 and 2011. The fesitval gives students the opportunity to participate in workshops with world reknowned teachers and choreographers, work with The Young Americans (a touring group), perform at Disneyland, and compete against other countries. In 2013 we will be returning to the Dance Excellence Festival in Los Angeles, and will therefore be asking students early in 2012 if they are interested in being a part of this amazing event. We will require students to pay deposits and commit to going to the 2013 festival by mid 2012. So start thinking about whether you would like to be part of this incredible experience! LA DANSE COMPANY


The La DanSe Company is a select group of students who work with a choreographer and learn dance pieces that they perform at different events and charities, as well as competing in Eisteddfods. Students must be attending two Ballet classes per week, and must be in Grade 2 Ballet or above. Entry is by audition only. Some of La DanSe Company’s performance credits include – Various nursing homes; the Starlight Room at the Royal Children’s Hospital; pre-show entertainment for the Andre Rieu Concert at Telstra Dome; and the Dance Excellence Festival performance at Disneyland, Los Angeles.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES

We are pleased to offer a range of dance Birthday Parties. Parties are suitable for children age 3 & up and can be conducted in Ballet, Jazz, Funk & more. To find out about the different Birthday Party packages we offer please contact the office.
